Testing Symantec’s Adaptive Protection

Tempus, MRG’s real-time virtualised test environment reveals Symantec’s Adaptive Protection blocks potential Living Off the Land attacks 4 seconds faster.

MRG Effitas was approached to test Symantec’s Adaptive Technology, a powerful dynamic feature within Symantec Endpoint Protection that focuses on protecting against Living Off The Land (LOTL) attacks.

LOTL attacks are on the increase. These are where threat actors launch sophisticated cyber attacks through the operating system features of legitimate 3rd party commercial tools, such as AnyDesk, Atera or ConnectWise.

With the ability to test multiple images simultaneously and receive real-time alerts and highly detailed feedback Tempus, our virtualised test environment, was the ideal way to test and analyse Symantec’s dynamic technology.

Several Living Off The Land samples, were identified with test results revealing that the Adaptive Protection identified and blocked the attacks 4 seconds earlier than other elements of the EPP.
