Microsoft Virus Initiative (MVI) Certification
Get certified for the MVI with MRG’s 360° Assessment or a private MVI test.
The Microsoft Virus Initiative (MVI) is a global programme designed to ensure third-party antimalware solutions integrate seamlessly with Windows and deliver the same high standards of protection as Microsoft Defender.
In essence, MVI certification verifies that a product provides comprehensive, real-time malware detection, prevention, and remediation, confirming it as an effective and reliable replacement for Microsoft Defender in Windows environments.
Microsoft mandates that MVI members achieve certification through trusted third-party providers within the last 12 months to ensure the robustness of their offerings.
Our 360° Assessment is now one of these trusted certifications. 360° participants who achieve level 2 certification upwards will automatically be MVI certified, but MRG can also supply a one-off private annual MVI test on request.

There are two ways we can certify eligible products for the MVI programme.
MRG offers a standalone MVI test and certification, comprising an In The Wild Malware and False Positive test. This can be completed in a matter of weeks.
Alternatively, for a more comprehensive and comparative test, you can take part in our quarterly 360° Assessment and subject to achieving level 2 certification, your product will be certfied to take part in the MVI programme.
